Macmillan Coffee Morning is a nationwide fundraising event in the United Kingdom organised by the Macmillan Cancer Support. This charity provides specialist care, information and financial support for cancer patients and pushes for better cancer care.
Carbosynth hosted this year’s coffee morning at our two locations in Compton. A selection of cakes and savoury snacks prepared by Carbosynth staff filled our meeting rooms with delicious smells and created a lovely atmosphere.
The best baker at Axis House was Charlotte, who prepared a Cadbury crunchie cheesecake with honeycomb and Kinder Bueno. She said: “Macmillan is a great charity to support because something as simple as a cake morning can encourage the entire country to contribute. The cheesecake I made did not go as planned, however it's about taking part which is the most important thing. It was great fun to make and I will definitely be taking part again next year!”
Among the staff based at Old Station Business Park, the best baker title went to Colin. He baked a pear and chocolate cake with almonds and commented: "I love catching up with colleagues from different departments at events like this, sampling lots of tasty treats and raising money for a good cause. This year being named star baker was the icing on the cake!"
We raised £370 this year – thank you all for the contribution.
