Carbosynth Prize Winner at the International Carbohydrate Symposium

Congratulations to Dr Cheng-Chung Wang who is the winner of the Carbosynth Oral Communication prize. It was awarded for the presentation “Chemistry on protection and functionalization of free sugars” at the International Carbohydrate Symposium in Lisbon.

 Carbosynth award winner ICS2018

Dr Cheng-Chung Wang

Dr Wang is Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Chemistry, Academia Sinica in Taiwan. His research group focuses on the methodologies that make the synthesis of complicated carbohydrate molecules simple, including one-pot preparation of various building blocks from free sugars. They also study the mechanisms of glycosylation reactions and develop stereoselective glycosylation reactions based on their discovery.

We are pleased that carbohydrate chemistry experts such as Dr Wang recognise us and our products. The winner said: “We certainly know Carbosynth as it is one of the major suppliers of carbohydrate molecules. The efficiency and diversity of the sugars it provides is always very satisfying.

Carbosynth is a specialist supplier of carbohydrates to industry and research communities worldwide. We attend several scientific conferences every year in order to keep on top of the latest trends, innovations and challenges in the field of carbohydrate chemistry and glycobiology. In July, a team of experienced Carbosynth chemists attended the International Carbohydrate Symposium (ICS) in Lisbon and enjoyed hearing about our customers’ achievements in carbohydrate synthesis.

The next carbohydrate-focused meeting we are attending is the Glycobiotechnology 2018 in Manchester. Find our booth and tell us about your requirements – maybe we can help.
