SDF was developed and published by Molecular Design Limited (MDL) and has become the most widely used standard for importing and exporting information on chemicals. SDF is one of a family of chemical-data file formats developed by MDL and is intended primarily for structural information. A feature of the SDF format is its ability to include associated data.
