IBMX

A non-specific inhibitor of cAMP and cGMP phosphodiesterases (PDEs) with IC50 values between 2 and 50 µM. Inhibits phenylephrine-induced 5-HT release by neuroendocrine epithelial cells. IBMX-mediated increase in cAMP and upregulation of Ca2+ channels promotes neuronal differentiation. Stimulates secretion of thyroid hormones, resulting in cAMP-mediated activation of glycogenolysis and reduced glycogen storage.
