Idebenone

An analogue of short-chain coenzyme Q with potent antioxidant properties. Interacts with the mitochondrial electron transport chain and by-passes defective complex I to aid restore ATP levels in cells. Thus, idebenone has potential for the treatment of mitochondrial disorders. Idebenone attenuates cardiac hypertrophy and enhances cardiac function, beneficial in Friedreich ataxia.
