An allosteric inhibitor of human methionine adenosyltransferase 2A (Mat2A), the extrahepatic isoform, with an IC50 value of 420nM. Binding of PF9366 to Mat2A overlaps with the binding site of Mat2B, a regulator of Mat2A. Mat2A inhibition in cells by PF 9366 reduces synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine (SAM).
