Bexarotene

Selective agonist of retinoid X receptor (RXR), permeable to blood-brain barrier and neuroprotective against neurological pathologies such as subarachnoid haemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, ischemic stroke and Alzheimer’s disease. Bexarotene promoted neurogenesis as a treatment of embryonic stem cells affected proliferation of neural progenitors, neuronal differentiation and stimulated neurite outgrowth.
